I realize posting on this blog has been slow, but I wanted to come on here and inform everyone that I will be pursuing a new avenue in my life. It’s just a small project I want to try to see where it may take me.
First off, for those of you who aren’t familiar, check this site out. It’s called Etsy. It is an online community for people to buy and sell everything handmade. So think of it as eBay but strictly for handmade or crafty things. I’m a member of Etsy and have had the pleasure of purchasing some unique items from some really awesome sellers on this site. I just recently created a membership so I could become a seller of handmade stuff myself! That’s right, I’m going to try a side business selling handmade cuteness on Etsy :)
You can see my storefront here at arixystix.etsy.com and also a new blog site I will be publishing soon at arixystix.com
So the bottom line is, Vernal Groove will still be here and I may post to it from time to time, but I am going to be focusing on my arixystix store for the time being. Feel free to check out my blog there to see some of my latest crafty stuff. I will be moving everything craft related over to that blog, and this one will be strictly for Steve and I’s adventures.
Wish me luck in my endeavors!

I have been seeing lots of inspiring little embroidery things online and decided to give it a shot by myself. First I had a go with some freehand writing and other little embellishments on this little motivator I made. It turned out ok, I think I want to make it again but with different colors and fabrics and stuff.
It seems too dark to me. After realizing I pretty much only had 8 colors of embroidery floss which mostly consisted of hot pink, black, bright greens and a few browns, I decided to go to the store and build a small library of colors to work with in the future. It was fun picking out some colors and sorting them into this handy container.
And I was so excited about all my new floss that I had to make something right away. I found a cool image of a machine embroidered mandala online and decided to make one of my own. This is the mandala in the works with all my floss too…
…And here is the finished mandala :)

One more crafty thing I am working on….Steve got me a plushie book for my birthday and I saw this monster hat in it and thought it was cute! I ordered some safety eyes for it (waiting for those to come before I can keep working on it) and am in the process of putting it all together. I am hand sewing it because the sewing machine just seems to bunch up the fur too much at the seams. Check it out! I’ll also post a pic when it is done.
